Introducing the Design Pool Mapping Library

You're invited to check out the newest feature of the Design Pool website, our new mapping library for interior designers to use in 3D modeling. The inspiration for this feature came from talking to designers at NeoCon and BDNY. Through those conversations, we learned it is difficult to find patterns in seamless repeat to use in their renderings. As a result, they show clients a rendering and verbally explain what patterns they plan to use on floors, walls, or...

Proprietary Library, Your Questions Answered

Design Pool has two libraries of pattern designs, each with its own unique group of patterns. Most of our patterns are in the licensable library. These designs are available to license, not purchase. Design Pool owns the rights to the designs, and different printers have access to the same pool of designs. There are over 700 patterns in the licensable library, and we add designs continuously to the library. There are no restrictions to viewing any of the designs...

How to Request a Custom Pattern

Though Design Pool is primarily a licensable pattern library, we occasionally do custom design work to create original patterns. When do we do custom work? Our custom work usually falls into two categories. First, sometimes our pattern library just does not have the perfect design. We try to have something for everyone, but sometimes a designer is working on a particular project, and it just doesn't exist. Second, sometimes a designer is working on a project that requires an...

How to Become a Design Pool Partner

At Design Pool we like to say that we're more than just another image library. We took the idea of a pattern library a step further and partnered with digital printers. We refer to each printer as a Design Pool partner. Our goal is to make on-demand technology accessible to the interior design community. This non-inventory business model is a break from the way interior designers have traditionally sourced their materials. It lets any designer find a pattern they...

How To Request a Custom Color

Each pattern in the Design Pool licensable and proprietary libraries come with a full colorline with a variety of color options. On average, our colorlines have five different colorways to choose from. Occasionally, there are up to ten colors. Though we do our best to have options for everyone, we understand we can't create every possible color. That's why we also offer the opportunity for a custom color if needed. But first, how do we design our colorlines? Our...

We talk a lot about our licensable library but not as much about our proprietary library. So, what's the difference between the two categories? Licensable Designs These designs are available to license, not purchase. Patterns in this library are not exclusive to any manufacturer or designer. We have licensing agreements in place with our printers. They pay us...

How does a non-inventory system work?

At Design Pool, we talk a lot about how print-on-demand technology is changing the way interiors are designed. Also, how printing only what you need when you need it is a more sustainable means of manufacturing. One of the reasons this is true is because this type of manufacturing is a non-inventory system. To understand what makes this system so unique, let’s look back at how this system used to work. Traditionally, interior designers working on a project looked through...
