Key Takeaways from the Wide-format Summit

This year's Wide-format Summit hosted by Printing United was an inspiring and informative three days. The team who puts it together is fantastic! I'm so grateful to have been invited back to speak for the second year in a row. As a designer who connects printers with the interior design market, I always have my ear out for the challenges printers face. As I grow my business, it's helpful to know what problems I can solve for printers as...

Eight Inspiring Books About Creativity

I am endlessly fascinated by creativity and constantly look for new books about creativity. It doesn't even have to be a creative field I can relate to. I just love learning about other people's experiences and how they channel their creativity in exciting ways. I'm particularly interested in learning how people got from point A to point B. What were their challenges? How did they overcome them? If you're looking for something to inspire you this summer, here are eight...

Introducing the New Farmers Market Collection

Who doesn’t love a farmers market? I don’t think I know anyone! While living in Providence, Rhode Island, I visited the Hope Street Farmers Market on Saturday mornings to buy fresh produce, flowers, and seafood. (And, of course, pet other people’s dogs.) I loved supporting the local farms and small businesses and buying what was in season. From Providence, I moved to North Carolina and loved the market in downtown Davidson. Since moving to New Hampshire, I haven’t found a...

Lindenmyer Munroe Wide Format Expo Recap

In late March 2023, I exhibited at the Lindenmyer Munroe Wide Format Expo at their Wide Format Experience Center in Trenton, New Jersey. This was their second time producing this event, and they described it as "two days of innovation and inspiration, where you can discover the latest in wide format printing technology, explore new materials, and learn about cutting-edge techniques to take your printing game to the next level." The Lindenmyer team in Trenton did an incredible job organizing...

Museum of Printing Field Trip

Thank you so much to EFI for inviting me to an afternoon at the Museum of Print in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Spending the afternoon with a fun group of print lovers and gawking over machines was such a treat. I have been to the museum a few times before (I'm lucky to live close by) and always learn something new about printing every time I visit. This time was no different. Frank Romano, President of The Friends of the Museum of...

Learn Needle Punch with Kristen at Snow Farm

You’re invited!  Join me in May 2023 at Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program to learn the art of needle punch. I first learned needle punch on a trip to Scotland. Ever since, I continue to create unique pieces, many of which have been exhibited in galleries around the United States. This year, I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach this to you at Snow Farm. And it’s not just needle punch, we’ll also dye...

Design Pool’s Pick for Color of the Year 2023

Each December, we reflect on the previous year and take stock of our experiences. We also look ahead at what’s to come and think about how we can express these feelings through color. What is our pick for Color of the Year 2023? These past few years have been unpredictable, to say the least. At the end of 2020, our pick for the color of the year was an optimistic yellow. In 2021, we looked for renewal with a...

Seamless Pattern Designs Cornucopia Collection

Introducing the Cornucopia Collection

The word cornucopia comes from two Latin words: Cornu, meaning horn, and Copia, abundance. How did a horn come to symbolize abundance? It comes from a Greek myth. Amalthea, the name of the goat which fed Zeus as a baby, broke off. In its breaking, it was endowed with the power to be filled with whatever the owner desired, usually fruit, flowers, or grain. This symbol of abundance is often associated with Thanksgiving. It speaks to the quantity of...

Wide-format Summit Recap

One of the common themes at the Wide-format Summit, presented by Wide-format Impressions in July, was that at the start, no one really knew what to expect. The summit was a unique format and a new event. Guests were invited to attend, at no cost to them, and the attendee list was limited so as to keep interactions meaningful. The organizer's goal was to present an event that fostered relationship-building and valued quality over quantity. After three days, everyone...
